Hold him still
Submitted by yipeee on Mon, 02/04/2008 - 05:14.This is the moment Oriann awaited for several weeks. Comanche is not a big horse...small, like an Arab. He's half Arab, half Quarter Horse. Even at this size and having been raised with him, Oriann is still a bit intimidated by Comanche. She's seen him at his most rambunctious. Eventually she'll be comfortable enough to take him out by herself.
The first ride
Submitted by yipeee on Mon, 02/04/2008 - 05:14.Comanche hadn't been ridden in about 4 years. I decided today was the day … he was full of himself. This was taken after I'd been on him for about 15 minutes and he'd had a chance to get some of his "ya-yas" out. It's tradition : every spring, I'm his first rider because I trained him; I know what he'll do; I know what he'll not do — most of the time. He'll test other riders but he won't pull stunts on me. I know him too well. He's not mean. He's just a practical joker.
One for the road
Submitted by yipeee on Mon, 02/04/2008 - 04:58.Almost time for Grandma and Aunt Amy to leave but not before one more cuddle. * sigh * It was a wonderful day though. Next weekend we hope to go up again; DaGeek will come too. We thought we were going to the hospital but got a call in route stating they were going to be discharged shortly so just to head for the mountain. DaGeek doesn't do hospitals; some people don't.

What gets me in this picture is how tall Bobby is. Woody is 6 or 6' 1". Bobby just about towers over Woody. Looks like he's going to top out at the predicted 6' 4" or more. Both his grandfathers were that tall. Yikes! And he looks so like his dad. Well, except for the curly hair … I can't imagine where that came from. * snicker *
