Hold him still

Hold him still

This is the moment Oriann awaited for several weeks. Comanche is not a big horse...small, like an Arab. He's half Arab, half Quarter Horse. Even at this size and having been raised with him, Oriann is still a bit intimidated by Comanche. She's seen him at his most rambunctious. Eventually she'll be comfortable enough to take him out by herself.

The first ride

The first ride

Comanche hadn't been ridden in about 4 years. I decided today was the day … he was full of himself. This was taken after I'd been on him for about 15 minutes and he'd had a chance to get some of his "ya-yas" out. It's tradition : every spring, I'm his first rider because I trained him; I know what he'll do; I know what he'll not do — most of the time. He'll test other riders but he won't pull stunts on me. I know him too well. He's not mean. He's just a practical joker.

One for the road

One for the road

Almost time for Grandma and Aunt Amy to leave but not before one more cuddle. * sigh * It was a wonderful day though. Next weekend we hope to go up again; DaGeek will come too. We thought we were going to the hospital but got a call in route stating they were going to be discharged shortly so just to head for the mountain. DaGeek doesn't do hospitals; some people don't.

Runaway pacifier! She's searching for it.

Fed, burped, clean, dry and sleeping soundly in Grandma's arms.

All cleaned up

All cleaned up

… and ready for a refill.

Grandma's first diaper change

Grandma's first diaper change

All cleaned up and getting everything back in place. She was pretty squirmy and it took two of us to get a diaper back on her. LOL! Auntie Amy was behind the camera and did the best she could.

Fussy baby

Fussy baby

We found out in short order what the problem was. Grandma's first poopie!!

Don't wake the baby

Don't wake the baby

Too bad we have to change her. Let sleeping babies sleep … or as I used to tell my kids … "You wake her, you take her."

Three proud people

Three proud people

Woody, Bobby, Barbara. That is: Step-dad, Bobby, and Mom.

What gets me in this picture is how tall Bobby is. Woody is 6 or 6' 1". Bobby just about towers over Woody. Looks like he's going to top out at the predicted 6' 4" or more. Both his grandfathers were that tall. Yikes! And he looks so like his dad. Well, except for the curly hair … I can't imagine where that came from. * snicker *
