IPV6 explained

Hi, this will get updated as I have the time, I'm starting with this as a placeholder until I have more time to work on it. I'll attempt to explain IPv6 here in simple terms; or at least I'll try to explain what I do say :) . More coming soon...

Where's ny Internet

Our call center reports indicate a greater percentage of contact is to answer one generalized question: "Why can't I get on the Internet?" Although the percentage inquiry can be generalized in a single question, the answer is not singular. Our clients are exquisitely qualified; thus, our communities of service know the answer to "Who you gonna call?".

Why VoIP

Too many locations use separate networks for voice and data; justifications are disappearing very rapidly for that arrangement.

Voice communication transmits as continuously varying acoustic waves. As a child, I built string telephones; 50-feet mechanical transfers of acoustic energy were nothing short of amazing. However, sound waves lose energy in a very short distance and any obstruction alters waveform characteristics. For reliable reception over distance, voice communication must be a more focused and less mutable transfer.

Be not silent

You have many communication options. Call URTH wants you aware of your options. Call URTH can arrange VoIP service, but you have other options.

The traditional, hard-wired telephone service from local telephone companies is just one option. The perceived dependency of those local telephone company facilities are, however, coming to an end. They will continue providing a significant percentage of voice connectivity but consider alternatives.

Choosing *another* ISP

Let me discourage ISP hopping for improved download speeds. There are very isolated conditions for improving the capacity of dialup connection by choice of ISP.

Dialup is dialup, and the capacity of dialup connection is a function of line (and signal) quality and how terminal equipments are appointed. Let me clear the air about quality before trying to explain configuration.

"To IE or not to IE?"

I would be the last person with qualified advice in the IE7 vs IE6 choices. I don't (in fact, can't) run IE7 with my workstation. I can (and do) run IE6 with a proper WINE configuration; I do run IE6 because many devices that I install require Internet Explorer to access their web interfaces.

I complain that IE (any version) is not fully compliant with the W3C DTD. This is a bit unfair, since I've yet to find any browser that is 100% compliant. However, Microsoft does push the envelope too hard.

In Google's defense

On the surface, it would seem Google is intrusive; I have news for our readers: the Internet is, by design, intrusive — Google only employs that design to help navigate the Internet. Google works at being the best (i.e. "complete") Swiss Army Knife on the Internet. It is better said, "Google is ambitious".
